Product Description Make memories that will last a lifetime with the Schwinn 12" Roadster Trike. Featuring a retro-styled frame with a low center of gravity, it's easy for little ones to climb on and off during play. The tires roll smoothly and quickly, while the mustache-style cruiser handlebars, chrome fenders and a bell add a nostalgic flair that Mom and Dad will appreciate, as well.
Amazon.com Product Description Featuring unique retro styling and a heavy-duty steel construction, the Schwinn Roadster is a great choice for your youngster's first trike. It has a low center of gravity thanks to a wider profile back, which offers added stability to prevent tipping. The swoopy steel frame has an easy step-through design so your tyke will be comfortable and ready to ride. The Roadster has a bucket seat with an opening on the back for easy carrying, and the seat can be adjusted underneath with twist knob (no tools needed) to five different positions. The handlebars have textured grips and raised ends that help keep the hands from slipping off, and the handlebars can be adjusted using a wrench. The pedals offer colored rubber accents that also provide extra gripping so shoes don't slide off. It also features air-filled tires--12 inches in front, 8 inches in the back--which provide a smoother ride over bumpy surfaces. For added style, this trike comes with a real wooden deck in back with a burned-in Schwinn logo, shiny silver fenders on the front and back tires, a bell on the handlebars (which can be removed), and tassels for added flair coming off the ends of the handlebars (also removable). Can't give this enough praise! August 24, 2007 C. Ayres (Suffolk, VA USA) 85 out of 85 found this review helpful
This is honestly the perfect trike. My parents bought this for my daughter for her 2nd birthday and we couldn't be more pleased with it. It's sturdy, has the ability to be adjusted for greater longevity and is gorgeous. Its retro-looking (like the old, rounded bikes Schwinn once made) with a sleek design and curvy shape. We got the pink model for my daughter and though I'm not a fan of pink in general, its gorgeous. It makes me think of a mini-pink-lady when she's on it, like I need to get her a pink leather jacket and some motorcycle boots.
Its extremely safe. We tried so many models in different stores and none come close to this one. The back wheels are wide set with large wheels for great stability. All wheels are bycycle-type instead of hard plastic. My daughter can STAND in the seat and turn the wheel (no, we didn't advocate this when she did it) and it won't tip over!
My last kudos is that it was very easy to put together. My husband was away when we got it and I had no problem putting it together (despite lack of experience on my part). A few nuts and bolts here with clear instructions and no problem!
Worth the price and will probably last forever! Go Schwinn!
Stable and good looking, just a little heavy. February 29, 2008 Gabriel's Buddy (Carrboro, NC USA) 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
We have the red and the blue for our two two-year olds. One is big for his age and can reach the pedals and the other can just push from the ground.
This is a great trike because it is very stable since it is low to the ground and the rear wheels are far apart. This already came in handy when one son took a turn going down a very slight hill. He stayed upright when I am sure another trike would have tipped. Being low to the ground also makes it easier to push with one's feet (this helps my smaller son).
The trike's stability also helps with mounting and dismounting. We looked at a Radio Flyer trike and found it was easy for a kids foot to get caught on the seat or the tube dismounting the trike, causing a fall. No problem with this trike, getting on and off is very easy.
We also like the pneumatic tires and the retro look. We get lots of compliments from the neighbors. Our friends have the expensive trikes (Kettler?) and we certainly prefer the Schwinn over those which seem to be cheap plastic and are so loud because of the plastic wheels. The push bar and one pedal on their Kettlers broke, indicating to me that they aren't that durable.
The only bad size is that it is heavy. This hasn't come into play, both kids can push the trike around with their feet, even up a slight hill.
Good looking bike, poor quality tires May 24, 2008 M&M Reviewer (Fremont, CA) 29 out of 30 found this review helpful
This is a good looking bike, what got me to buy it but the quality of the tires leaves much to be desired. They get flat easily, loose pressure and its a constant hassle to keep them pumped up. The spokes coming from the wheel hub to the wheel edge are so roughly put in that they cut the tube even when its not being used. In my case they cut through the inner lining and then through the tube. Not a good quality considering the schwinn name. Not recommended.
Be aware: Height Restriction of 38" February 13, 2008 K. Gorgone 31 out of 35 found this review helpful
Ordered this tricycle because I wanted a sturdy metal framed trike with rubber wheels, one that wouldn't tip over when my two-year-old rounds a corner. I purchased this seeing that the manufacturer recommends it for ages 1 to 4, but was disappointed to see a height restriction on the box when it arrived: 38". My two-year-old is already 37.5" tall, so we'd get next to no use out of this. Had to return it, even though it looked great otherwise. It's true my son is in the 99th percentile for height, so not everyone will have this problem, but it would be helpful if the description here noted the restriction for parents of tall kids like mine.
Best tricycle ever and it's even PINK! March 19, 2007 MommyTimesFour (Stoneham, MA) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I can't say enough GREAT things about this trike. My 2 year old LOVES it! It is very well made, as are Schwinn Bikes. It has so much style, yet it is actually very well made. We gave it to her today at her birthday party, and I think the adults were just as impressed by it as the little kids. Plus, the seat is adjustable so it can grow with the child. It is also very easy to assemble. This is a must have for any pink loving, active, little princess!
